Sports: Volleyball drops to Lipscomb in Straight Sets

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State volleyball team could not overcome Lipscomb's offense falling to the Bisons in three sets (15-25, 15-25, 19-25) on Sunday afternoon at Allen Arena.

The non-conference loss moved Tennessee State to 0-2 on the season.

Johanna Alcantara finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Tiger offense while

finishing with a hitting percentage of .345. TSU got 14 digs from Gina Rivera Ortiz to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Tigers found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-15. Tennessee State trailed by as many as 10 points as Lipscomb grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up five times before the Bisons took control.

SET 2 | Tennessee State lost the second set 25-15, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Lady Tigers dropped the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Lipscomb finished off the sweep with a set-three victory. The Lady Tigers lost a tough set 25-19. Tennessee State trailed by as many as six points as Lipscomb grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that was tied up eight times before the Bisons took over in the second half of the stanza.
